This week, we’re supporting Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week, a national campaign led by NHS England and Diabetes UK to raise awareness of Type 2 diabetes and how to prevent it.
Why it matters
Type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health complications if left unmanaged – including heart disease, kidney problems, and vision loss. But the good news is that for many people, it can be prevented through small lifestyle changes.
Who is most at risk?
You may be more at risk if you:
- Are over 40 (or over 25 if you’re from a South Asian background)
- Have a close family member with diabetes
- Are overweight or inactive
- Had Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) during pregnancy
